Very Detailed- Love this!
Love how information is laid out in this book. As an ICU nurse this is helpful for further understanding MOA of medication with patients.

My Go-To Resource for Myself & My Preceptees
Dr. Gutierrez nails the balance between being a thorough resource while still being very readable- a feat very few books like this have been able to accomplish. I have bought at least 3 copies of this book for myself and then for colleagues/friends/preceptees, and think it is an absolute must for anyone in critical care. In the future I would love to see ephedrine included, I know it's almost exclusively an anesthesia drug of choice but as an ICU RN in CRNA school I would love his thoughts/teachings. It's the best $33 dollars you'll spend in your career!

Excellent for New ICU Nurses
This book made understanding vasopressors very easy for me. It was a quick read, and I would definitely recommend it to other new grad nurses in the ICU. I see myself going back and re-reading it a few times. Thank you for this great resource.

The Last Vasopressor Book You’ll Ever Need!
This book is incredible. As a practicing physician I had switched hospitals with a different ICU setup. I was looking for a refresher book on vasopressor/inotropic medications to prepare and this ended up being everything I needed and so much more. The style it's written in is easy to follow but also goes in depth enough to satisfy any questions I had. I truly believe this should be added to all medical school curriculum - it's just that good - as starting with this book would have made learning these concepts the first time an absolute breeze. Well researched, intentionally structured, with a smooth and flowing style - it's clear Dr Gutierrez is a master in his field. He has the rare and uncanny ability to bring in anyone who might feel uneasy about this subject perfectly comfortable. I'll be keeping this close during my rounds - and I suggest adding a pocketbook edition that could be put in a whitecoat (like for med students!).

Amazing! Very easy to digest and for anyone in Emergency & Critical Care medicine
EddyJoeMD is the man!! I’ve been following him on Instagram since I first got into Critical Care Nursing in 2020. This “Handbook” is exactly what it says it is. It’s very easy to digest and everything is backed up with statistical evidence based practice. Every time I’m reading a particular section of one the pressors or inotropes, I think of a question like, “what if the patient is in A-Fib RVR?” or “What if they have significant Aortic/Mitral stenosis?” it’s like he knows what your thinking and answers that very question. I really appreciate how there’s a QR code at the end of each chapter to see the citations and evidence. I highly recommend this amazing practical handbook to anyone practicing bedside Emergency and/or Critical Care medicine. Hey, even the seasoned Doc to get a refresher on new evidence and standard practice.

Great Educational Resource
Cannot recommend enough! This book is very thoroughly written with tons of insight and relevant studies for each section. The book isn't chronological but I read it cover-to-cover and it was great. I work as a critical care nurse in a medical ICU and I've been showing new residents and new nurses the book as a good resource to learn a bit more about the medications we use daily. 10/10.

Real world info, distilled
I really enjoyed this look at some of the drugs I use daily in critical care - will find it invaluable and have recommended it to some others. I have read some textbooks on critical care as well, and none of them compare for the purpose. This is distilled, contemporary, relevant, and helpful. I really hope Dr. Gutierrez will write some more books!

One of the best medical reference books I have found
This book will quite literally serve you the answers to your vasoactive & inotropic questions on a silver platter. Dr. Gutierrez does a great job of balancing a detailed yet concise explanation of pertinent receptor sites before honing in on each specific medication. He ties in evidence-based research, efficacy in specific situations, comparison to other drugs, pros vs cons, etc. in a conversational manner that feels less like a textbook. Basically, it’s not boring! Highly recommend.
