So can you use it to get 7.1 sound from your TV? I'm afraid not. This device is for PCs and requires a software driver which your TV won't have. Nice idea though! You need a proper AV amplifier and a set of surround speakers to achieve what you are looking for - the Startech item is not a cheap way to achieve the same thing.
