Perfect...after McGyver-ing a slight improvement
This is an excellent razor handle. I really like how it has heft, and feels great in your hand. Most of the handle is made of metal, whereas the top, where the razor cartridge fits in, is made of plastic. However, overall, the razor handle is very weighty (in a good way) and feels great while shaving. For the past several months, I was using the typical plastic handle that I bought on Amazon (the original equipment handle). However, I was getting cut, nicked, and just not getting a close shave. I thought it was the Sensor 3 blades, and somehow they were not made as well as in the past. But then I got this handle. Honestly, the blades feel completely different. I am not sure if it is psychological, but I am getting the best shaves of my life. I think because the handle has some weight and heft, I don't feel the need anymore to put any pressure to shave. As a result, I am sticking to Sensor 3 blades.I have just one issue with the handle. I shave in the shower. Obviously, the handle gets wet and slick with shaving cream, water, etc. There are grippers on the handle at the top and bottom, but nothing in the middle. The middle of the handle is very smooth. A few times, the handle almost slipped out of my hand. I know in other reviews, people said they dropped their handle and it broke. That makes sense. So what did I do? I McGyvered a fix. I just bought a cheap roll of hockey stick tape (the tape you put on the blade, which is pretty water resistant). I literally put two one-inch pieces of tape around the handle, and the handle is now tacky enough that it is very unlikely to slip out of my hand. The roll of tape cost $5.78, and unfortunately, I only used about 2 inches of it, but perhaps a similar cloth tape that you have at home already will do. With that fix, the handle is even better, and perfectly secure in my hand. Please see the pictures attached. All in all, this a great handle. It's a little pricey, but as I said, for some reason this handle seems to shave so much better than those light plastic handles.

high quality, takes getting used to
Most of the other reviews are correct. This handle is indeed surprisingly heavy. When I first switched from the Gillette Sensor handle it took a couple weeks to get used to this one and I was getting nicks until I figured out how to grip the handle. I won’t get into specifics because my hands and face are not the same size and shape as yours, but yes, the center of the handle is slippery and you will need to figure out how to hold it so you’re holding at least one of the “grippy” sections. Now that I’ve gotten used to the handle, I can tell that the added weight gives me much better control of the razor. It is also true that the part that grips the razor blade itself is a bit loose, and if you drop the handle the razor blade will certainly pop out. On the other hand, I appreciate the tiny bit of “wiggle”, having learned to take advantage of it to shave smoothly around corners. The finish on the handle eventually degrades (especially if you use it in the shower, as i do) and the part that grips the blade gets looser over time. I’ve had mine over two years now and am just starting to think about replacing it, so i’d say it’s a good value. Despite the peeling finish and loose blade grip it’s totally usable, so I figure it’ll be at least another year before I really need to replace it.

Gillette substitute: Four stars for a good but flawed product. Five stars for excellent service.
I like the Sensor shaving system, but my Gillette Sensor razor handle broke and I can no longer shave with it. (The tiny plastic tabs that hold the blade snap off when dropped.)I still have dozens of nice Sensor blades, so getting a new handle is the easy win...Sadly, Gillette has discontinued the Sensor system. Besides, Gillette hates me. I get the message. My search is not over, but I have made progress: this Taconic handle is heavy and satisfying, and works well both with old Sensor blades and Personna TRI-FLEXXX.Bad news: Four months after I bought this handle, I dropped it and its plastic tab snapped, too.Good news: I called Super Safety Razors directly and before I even asked for a replacement, the guy said he understood and would get a replacement in the mail right away! Outstanding. If Taconic solves the design flaw of the fragile plastic tabs, which other users have mentioned here, then they’ll have a big winner for the thousands of men who still like Sensor.Until then, four stars for a good but flawed product. Five stars for excellent service.Advice: stick it to Gillette. They hate us. When you buy new blades, swap Gillette Sensor for Personna TRI-FLEXXX. Personna gives a great shave and it’s half the price on AMZN. And Personna is not evil like Gillette.
