Beautiful journey
The first book went fast, the second a little slow and the third somewhere between the 2 with all the details if the journeys and quests but it all tied together nicely and anded in a very satisfying way. While very chaste on the romance, definite love stories flowed through. All in all, I would rate between a 4 and 5, being closer to 5.

Better Than the Series
I saw the Netflix series and was left needing to know the story. The trilogy answered my questions with great detail. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this author's created word. I can't wait to begin her other books.

Not an avid reader
I began reading this series after I watched the first season of the Netflix series. I don’t usually read a lot but I enjoyed this a lot. I believe it was better because I could see the actors faces from the series. I liked seeing what was different and similar between the first book and the first season of Shadow and bone.I felt like it was pieced together well and the end was perfect. Not what I expected, but perfect. What I wanted to happen in the beginning changed as I got to know the character better. I will be anxious to see the series continue on Netflix. They did a good job in the series adding other characters that weren’t in the book so we wouldn’t just be seeing Alina’s point of view the whole time.I also think casting should get a round of applause because they picked the perfect people to play these characters.I haven’t read a series since Harry Potter so this was nice. I like how she wrote the novels. Sometimes I get lost in description or it being to wordy but she did a great job.

Loved the Netflix Series. Read the books!!
If you watched the Netflix series of the Shadow and Bone saga these books will give you a new perspective on the actual storyline. The books have so much more details and the storyline although similar has some very important differences and makes the story more complete. The story of the Darkling, Sun Summoner (Alina), the tracker (Mal) and Nickolia is starkly different than the Netflix series. The way their journey starts to the way it ends is different and detailed. There is more action. More drama and more surprises.I do not want to give it away and suggest if you like fantasy novels and the Netflix series then read these books. It was fantastic.I am giving it a 4 ⭐️only because the story goes on much longer than it should and could have been done with less pages. I am also not a fan of long chapters and this had long chapters. Otherwise see below for breakdowns of my ratings on the book overall.Spice : No rating. It is very mild but there is some romance to it.Plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Character Development 🎥🎥🎥🎥Writing Style ✍️✍️✍️✍️Overall a great book. Highly recommend.

Love this boxed set...
After watching the second season of the Netflix TV Show, I broke down and bought a book or two for the first time in a very long time. So first, I will talk about the set itself and hopefully, come back on to review each individual book once I finish it. I was so excited to get this set of books! I love each books' cover design. And it came with a handy sleeve to keep them all in. Now, I just finished the first book today and started the second. I was surprised by how close the show stayed in-line with the first book, Shadow and Bone. I guess we will see with the other two.So, here is a review of the first book: When reading a book, I can usually come up with my own picture in my mind of the characters, settings, and events of said book. I couldn't really do that with this. I was too busy always comparing it to the show that came out last year (which I love). That is why I like to read the book before I see a movie or show. I love to compare the two. And I got to say, spot on so far! Now I can't wait to finish the next book and possibly get the accompanying books that the show was based on- The Six of Crows Duology and The King of Scars.Editing my review to add on that I finished book 2, Siege and Storm, and book 3, Ruin and Rising. I finished them last week but didn't want to leave the world behind and read something else, so I just started the first one again a few days ago. I am again done with the first and started on the second. So, here are my reviews for the next two books...Siege and Storm- Oh, started off with a ton of action and adventure but for me it did get a little boring in the middle and picked up again towards the end. If you are a big fan of the show, I would probably not read this series. I don't want to give away any spoilers for either one, but prepare yourself if you have already seen the show and wanted to read the books.Ruin and Rising- I loved this one! This one was by far my favorite. There were very few parts that I did not like. It kept me engaged until the very last page!!!! Again prepare yourself, if you love the show.Anyway, this would be a total recommendation from me. Go and get these books! Now!!

Excellent series that left me wanting more!
A friend recommended this series because she knew I love fantasy novels, and I literally can't put them down! I've now read the first two books about 1/3 of the final book in less than a week, so my only negative comment is that I'm approaching the end of this set and desperately want more! I would definitely recommend these to anyone, and I also now intend to buy anything else that I can find from this same author.
