Drivers are a little tricky but it works beautifully
Takes a little bit of effort to get everything up and running, but it works beautifully. Can't beat this device from a price standpoint. If you do your research to properly install the uDXM drivers you will save hundreds of dollars. I have this up and running on Windows 10. I followed a guide I found on youtube to install the uDMX drivers - I didn't even touch the driver CD that came with the unit. There is a youtube video with an installation guide in the description. Amazon won't let me post a link but the video is titled "$20 dollar Lixada usb to DMX adapter + 2 GBGS led pars - working!" so if you google that title the video will pop up. Good luck!

Tiny Dongle, Big Capabilities.
I was skeptical on how reliably and easily this system would setup and run, but I was blown away by the power packed in this tiny dongle. I bought this dongle to replace my 192 Ch. Lighting Console in attempts to automate my shows and extend the amount of lights I can use. While installation can be a problem, I found a post online that recommended using the Zadig driver and that worked perfectly. The recommended Freestyler DMX software is free and amazing, even for non experienced users. While it does take some time getting used to and requires some knowledge of DMX and lighting, it is much easier to use than other programs out there.I am a little disappointed that the XLR connector is not Neutrik brand, and I would recommend using a USB extension cord to make sure this dongle isn't a lever sticking out of the side of your computer, but on the bright side, it's metal shell and the metal casing on the XLR connector helps give it some extra durability.Nevertheless, after a lot of testing, I used this dongle to run my biggest show yet, a concert with over 30 fixtures, hundreds of channels and well over 1000 ft. of cable, and this cheap, tiny dongle worked like a champ with no problems. I've attached some pictures to show what this little guy can handle. What blew me away the most is that the signal this dongle puts out is strong and reliable enough to command 30+ lights across hundreds of feet of cable, albeit the signal started fading after about 1,500 ft of cable, so a wireless dmx or dmx amplifier would be recommended for massive shows. The biggest problem I've had with this dongle is that one of my fixtures doesn't seem to like the signal the dongle puts out and flickers depending on the mode it's in. I've read online about similar problems with the same fixture (Chauvet Colorstrip) and it seems it may be able to be fixed by changing the refresh rate of the dmx signal, but I've had no luck and just use presets for that light. Luckily, the light doesn't flicker when using presets, and it seems that this issue is only related to that one fixture which is pretty old anyway, so I won't hold that against the dongle (it could be a software or light problem for all I'm concerned). If you're looking for a cheap, simple way to get into bigger shows and software lighting or looking to get rid of your lighting console, this is a great solution!

Don't waste time or money
Nice concept. Does not work. Waste of money

Works well but not on every USB port
This device works well for what I expected it to do: control dmx light fixtures for stage events and live concerts. Installing the drivers takes some effort but once this is done, it works well with freestyler and I was able to control all the light fixtures. For the price of this device, it provides a nice entry level into DMX512 lighting. One problem I experienced was that when I ran it from a laptop the USB seems to disconnect every minute or so and reconnect after a few seconds. This did not happen when running from a powered USB hub. My guess is that it requires more power than the USB port on the laptop provides which causes the disconnects. Therefore, I would advice testing it with the specific computer and USB port before starting a live gig.

Gets the job done if you know what you're doing.
I'm using this with Windows 10 Pro (2017 Creators Update) and was up and running in under 5 minutes by following the included installation instructions. They tell you to turn off driver code signing before installation. If you're not comfortable with that, you probably shouldn't buy this. With Freestyler DMX, i've been using this to control over a dozen fixtures at once. 8 Lixada RGBW Pars, 4 Lixada moving heads, 2 Chauvet Intimidator Spot 100s, 1 Chauvet ColorStrip, and a Chauvet GigBar. I've had zero issues with the driver, hardware, or Freestyler software. This stuff does take some technical knowledge to get it all going efficiently. If you know what you're doing, this thing is a bargain!

Tricky to get working, do not use the included CD!
Do not buy this if you want a simple, plug and play device.... This is a branded version of the open-source uDMX project, it's got it's quirks but for my application (silly lights in the garage to drink beer to) the tradeoff is worth it for the price. The driver included on the CD is way out of date, you will need the updated drivers from illutzmination [DOT].de for it to load properly on Windows 8/10.You may ALSO need a powered usb hub - W10 does not correctly identify this device so it shuts off power to the USB port after a few minutes. Plugging it into a powered USB hub eliminates the issue.Once its up and running, it works great! smooth fades on all my lights, talks to QLC+ without issue.

Cool... Way cheaper.... But not Plug and Play.
Finally got it set up. So far so good. I have not used for a gig yet. Easy to install drivers and Freestyler. I personally did not like GUI of Freestyler. So I watched a few YouTube videos and decided to go with QLC+.I must say... you must understand how DMX works with your lights (fixtures) and to make sure they are correctly. This not plug and play.

So far so good!
This was exactly what we needed to work some lights. Using it with Windows 10. So far working well and it was a good price! Had a friend that knows more about this help us install it.

Lixada USB DMX interfaccia 512 ch
