Great Grill/Smoker
I've been wanting a Treager for several years, but couldn't really justify spending $700 - $800 for one. One day I thought of checking on AMAZON for a Treager, and I stumbled on the Renegade Pro. This grill is perfect for the needs of a small family and it's a great price for what you get. While it's technically a 20" grill, it has the same diameter barrel as the larger 22" models so you can cook a turkey or other things that require some height. Compared to the larger, more expensive 22" models, all you're giving up is 2" and that's no big deal. It has plenty of space and works very well. This model also has the "pro" controller with two probes and a trap door to clean out/swap pellets, and it has the sawhorse-style legs that are sturdy and look good. In the month we've owned it, we've cooked burgers, venison sausage, salmon, pork loin, prime rib and rack of lamb on it. The food comes out tasty, evenly cooked compared to cooking over charcoal, and moist. It's also very efficient in the consumption of pellets and produces a minimal amount of ash. Others have commented that their units came damaged, but ours arrived in perfect condition...it's heavy, but easy to assemble...simply attach the legs and cross panels, handles and smokestack and that's about it. Very pleased with our purchase and feel that this model is a great value that will meet the needs of most families.

Traeger Pellet Grills Smoke The Competition
I hardly ever feel compelled to write a review on products, even if I truly like it.I love this basic, pellet grill so much that I could not resist to write a quick blurb about the Traeger Renegade Pro. If you are a weekend warrior, like me, who loves to cook out and be a little creative with your fire grilled meat and vegetable products, this little beast will not let you down. I have had zero functional problems after 50 hours of use and perfect results on every food item that comes off the grill. You cannot compare natural gas and propane cooking to the flavor of a wood fire grill. I am having a blast with this thing. It is easy to maneuver around my large lanai and very simple to clean. This is the perfect pellet smoker to purchase if you are looking for a simple, solid unit to add to your arsenal of grilling weapons.

Love this smoker grill!
I read a lot of reviews before purchasing. I was concerned about the number of people who seemed to have the same recurring problems and almost didn't get it. Here are my thoughts:1. There were many complaints about getting a damaged item and Traeger just shipping parts instead of replacing. You should NOT have to fix your own brand new grill! My first one was delivered with a big dent in the side. I ordered through Amazon and their customer service sent me a new one in just two days, in perfect condition. When you spend $600 bucks on a smoker, it should be in prefect condition or a new one should be issued. Period.2. Many complaints about it not holding low temperature at 225 degrees. I found that the temperature reading on the control panel fluctuated throughout the cook by 20 degrees at times. I had the probe inside the grill to see how the internal temp was, and it was solid. Some fluctuation is normal and did not affect the result.3. Several complaints about the auger not turning properly or the pellets getting stuck causing back fire in the hopper. Many of the folks with this complaint also were sent a grill with some damage. If the grill was dropped in shipping, and if the auger was damaged even slightly, it won't turn properly and the pellets could get stuck. Also, if you skip the 5 min smoke warm up, you will have a problem with the fire burning back into the hopper.I have tried both hot and fast and low and slow. Both work great on this smoker. I followed the 3-2-1 rib recipe and was able to fit four slabs on the Renegade Pro 20! Great smoke ring. They came out perfect! I cannot wait to try a butt and a brisket on the Traeger.

Easy to use/maintain
It’s f*****g lovely; it’s very easy to maintain and use. The initial setup is relatively quick, the bulk of the time attaching the legs to the main body. Just read the manual, if you’re experiencing any issue in terms of re-igniting for re-use - it’s probably just because there’s ash in the chamber. Once it’s going it’s basically an outdoor crockpot, as in very user friendly and low maintenance. I’ve used it every afternoon/evening since it arrived and I f*****g love it; I’ve smoked pork, chicken, salmon, Mac and cheese, various vegetables, and deserts involving apples and brownies. I owned a charcoal smoker before this and it was fine, just significantly more labor involved to maintain the heat throughout - at least in my experience. If you’re looking for a nice small family smoker, that’s definitely worth its value, but hundreds of $ cheaper than this brands - or others’ premium models - this is a solid investment. As I’ve said, very easy to maintain and use; if you’re like me and work long hours - it may be your new go to along with a crockpot for most dinners.

Love how easy this thing is
First smoker, was torn between a pellet fed versus and maintain your own fire. Really happy I chose this one, its really easy, turn it on, run it on smoke for a bit, set the temp, walk away. Had it going for 11 hours the first day, did wings and sausages on it, turned out amazing. Put on a brisket, 4 hours in there was going to be a massive storm so moved it to the sous vide machine over night and threw it back on today. Don't think I would have enjoyed it as much if I went for the more complicated ones.
