CYCPLUS M2 GPS Bike Computer Review
CYCPLUS M2 GPS Wireless Bike Computer ReviewThis review is limited to my user experience over the course of a week (16hrs riding time & total 25hrs ON time) using the CYCPLUS M2 GPS wireless Bike Computer. The review also highlights the differences I have noticed to my current Garmin Edge 820. During this test period no recharging of the M2 was necessary. For all the technical details please view the product website. The review does not cover the XOSS Mobile App functionality apart from the uploading of the ride data to strava.OrderingThe Unit is currently available direct from Cycplus UK (payable in dollars only) & Amazon at £49.99, both are post free. I ordered from Amazon and it was promptly delivered within 2 days. View all Cycplus products from Cycling BargainsPackagingThe parcel was securely packed as usual from Amazon, The actual unit was boxed and presented well, Included Computer, Standard Bar Mounting, Charging Cable and Colour User Guide.Setup & Sync with MonitorsSetting up the Cycplus M2 was straightforward following the Installation Guide, this mainly consisted of the Display Units & Time offset. Then ‘pairing’ to my Garmin HRM Belt and Stages Power Cranks was also very quick & easy. Ensure when setting up the Cycplus M2 that you download the “XOSS” App from the relevant App Store as detailed in the user guide, and not the Cycplus M2 App which is also available on the Store. I used an android phone to download and install the XOSS App without any problems.Bike FittingFitting the Cycplus M2 unit to the bike was simple as they fit without modification or adapter into a standard Garmin GPS Mount, this was essential for me with many different bikes with existing Garmin out front Mounts. This was not mentioned on the Cycplus website but they are compatible. The Cycplus M2 unit does come with a standard handlebar fitting, out front mounts can be purchased separately or in a bundle.Display Options & LayoutFirst thing i noticed was how quick the Cycplus M2 turns on & off compared to a garmin, with no maps and software it turns on and is usable in seconds. The display is very simple, consisting of three screens, one screen for Actual up to date data, another screen for average data and the last screen for maximum data. There is “no option” to change the layout or number of screens in the current version, you get what you get. Saying that it was fine for me and displayed all the GPS data plus my HRM & Stages Power & Cadence data. Although if you train with power you do not get all the nice power options you would get with a Garmin, it's just the 3 second power, average power & maximum power during the ride. The display characters are easy to read, especially the Current, Average & Maximum speeds which is in the larger size. The display screen is white on black rather than black on white so is a little harder to see under certain conditions. The screen is not a touch screen, i prefer it this way as when its raining the Garmin touch screen can be unusable and have resulted in losing rides. The controls consist of three buttons on the bottom of the unit and are straightforward to use. Starting the ride, pausing and saving is straight forward, but you don't have Auto Start available when you start moving. There is a small indicator > that the ride is recording, i did forget a few times to start the ride when I left home.XOSS AppUploading your completed ride using the XOSS App was easy, although was noticeably slower upload speed than Garmin Connect. The upload is wireless Bluetooth but it's not fully automatic at the moment like the Garmin. Once you open the XOSS App, there's 1 click to connect to the Cycplus M2 and 1 more click to “sync” all outstanding rides. Once the ride is synced it is automatically uploaded to Strava very quickly. It also supports uploading to Training Peaks.I view my rides and analysis on Strava so did not look at or review the data on the XOSS App. If you don't use Strava or Training Peaks you can still review your route and statistics in the XOSS App much like Garmin connect but not feature rich.GPS AccuracyI did notice when viewing my rides on Strava that the recorded route sometimes wanders off the underlying road, usually in areas of tree cover or bad satellite reception, generally its accurate and did not effect the overall route or picking up Strava segments and koms. But to put it into perspective this also happens occasionally on my Garmin Edge 820. But I do think the Garmin has slightly better Satellite detection.Battery LifeThe battery life was excellent during my 1 week review of this Cycplus M2 GPS unit, i did 20hrs of ride time and 26hrs TOTAL elapsed time (when the unit was turned on). I did not charge the battery at all during this period. I needed to charge the Garmin after every ride and on 5+ hour rides IT would regularly go into battery saver mode.ConclusionIf you're looking for a cheaper basic GPS Bike Computer option than the Garmin range & you want excellent battery life but don't need maps, customisable screens or comprehensive power data while training then this Cycplus M2 unit could be a good option for you. I am satisfied with my purchase for the money. On value for money I would give the Cycplus M2 GPS 5 Stars.

Good starter bike computer
I already own the M1 model so I knew what I was getting. These are good starter bike computers with excellent battery life. Connects easily to my ant+ sensors.Screen is clear, although hr and cadance are quite small fonts on the m2 so not the easiest to read when moving.I find GPS is inaccurate under tree cover so I use a speed sensor on my wheel and this sorts it - only really an issue when mountain biking.Xoss app is fine, connects, syncs and uploads to Strava without drama using android phoneFits with normal Garmin twist mounts so loads of options on how to mount it to the bikeScreens are preconfigured so no chance to customise what you see but for me that's not an issue, it tells me how fast I'm going and how long I've been riding and if my heart is about to explode!

Not designed for mountain bike
The display is clear, and the 4 buttons easy to use. The GPS speedo needs a lot of satellites, and often there don't seem to be enough for this speedo to work, although my other GPS speedo works just fine in the same locations. I wanted to add a Cycplus C3 sensor to the wheel instead of using GPS for speed. The sensor is designed to fit to the hub, not to the spokes. The sensor is way too big to fit onto either my Chris King or Hope Tech MTB wheel hubs between the spoke. I added a C3 to a crank for cadence. Pairing it with the M2 computer nearly made me throw the lot away. The font size of the manual is microscopic.

Good with minor avoidable flaws
nice big display, it is actually yellow the line around the screen not white. And no matter how many times I set the time it never keeps it! very annoying

Buy this Bike Computer - you won't regret it!!
Cycplus M2 Bike GPS Computer:The 1100MAH large battery capacity provides 30 hours of continuous use. Charging is through a Type-C cable. The unit boats a GPS active antenna which enables rapid location, positioning very good signal reception. With ANT+ connectivity, the M2 can connect to sensors for accurate measurement of speed, cadence, heart rate and power output. With a large 2.5 inch screen, the cycle data is easily seen during the day, whilst at night, a backlight, makes viewing in the dark a cinch. The backlight function is manual and the unit itself has auto standby which saves batery power when not in use. If like me, you like cycling in the rain, you'd be pleased to know that the M2 has an IPX6 grade waterproof rating. What's in the box:1 x CYCPLUS M2 Bike GPS Computer1 x Manual1 x Garmin-compatible Bike Mount1 x Bike Mount Rubber Pad3 x Rubber Bands1 x USB Type-C Cable
