Fabulous! Like Having a Class on Your Desk
This is an excellent book for someone who wants to take their watercolor painting to a more abstract creative level. Soft cover, 120 beautifully illustrated pages. As you can see from the photos below, the instructional quality is thorough and easy to understand. Each of the big projects take up 6 full pages of inspiring illustrations and step by step instructions. This is like taking a class in your own home; proceed step by step at your own pace. A wealth of knowledge and inspiration. I love this book and highly recommend.

The best watercolor book I have!!
Finally--a book that teaches how to do watercolor the way I want to do it. This isn't about portraits, landscapes, or painting wildlife. It's about making your own designs, some totally abstract, some of flowers and different things that are not trying to be realistic.I love how this book shows the different effects you can get with watercolors and how to combine colors and washes and how dry or wet to have the paper to get it to do it what you want to. Watercolor is painting with water that has pigment in it and it does not just sit on the page. That is what is so great about this book!I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to have fun with watercplor and create beautiful pictures!!

At last, a "How to" art book for the OTHER kind of artist. If you can't draw, this book is for YOU.
I come from a family of artists - nearly every one of them was an artist, and I mean successful artist, in a variety of artistic fields, all of which presupposed the ability to draw. And then, there was me. I have an artist's eye, an artist's "soul"; a deep feeling for colour and composition, but I have always been hopelessly incapable of drawing. Thus, I was always the student the art teachers ignored - if you're reading this, perhaps you know how that felt. UNTIL the wonderful day, many years later, when an art teacher who told me there are "two kinds of artists" - the mainstream kind who can draw a recognizable, lifelike object (be it a person, cat, tree, or landscape) and the "other" ones, like me, often scorned by art teachers, who cannot draw, but who have the qualities I described above. It was a revelation for me! (No, I did not go on to become a professional artist; still it changed how I saw myself.)If you are one of these "other kind" of artists who live in a world of deeply felt, seen, and understood colour and composition, you will love this book. This artist/author will encourage you to play with texture and pattern, harmonious colour groupings, deeply satisfying composition, a world of nuance and feeling. With both her inspiring examples and practical tips, She will help to free you to be the kind of artist YOU were born to be! If you encounter this book as a young person, it may change the whole direction of your life. If you encounter it when you are older, it can open doors to return to a long lost love. Thank you, Kate Rebecca Leach!
