Multi-Monitor Connectivity
For my scientific work, I often find a need to use both Windows and Mac programs (and, sometimes Unix) and so I have both Mac and Windows laptops. I am often searching for docking solutions that allow me to easily connect my laptops to a multitude of screens and devices both in my home office and my work office. In the past, I have been impressed with TobenOne devices that save desk space. Just recently, I reconfigured an office that gives me a lot more desk space and will allow me to use both the built-in screen of the laptop AND external monitors. So, I looked to TobenOne again and this review is of “TobenONE DisplayLink Docking Station Triple Monitor with 120W Power Adapter, Triple 4K Display for MacBook Pro/Air, Thunderbolt 4/3, USB-C Windows (3X HDMI, 3X DP, 2xUSB-C, 4xUSB 3.2, SD/TF)”I think the best message that I could convey is encapsulated in figure 1. I did nothing to “optimize” position of devices since I just wanted to test connectivity of multiple accessories, especially monitors. The picture shows what is an unusual and not necessarily the best setup, but you can clearly see my Surface Pro laptop in the center and to its right is a LOC 24” monitor and to the left an LG Ultragear 45-inch display. A single USB-C cable is all that it takes to connect the host device (in this case my Surface Pro laptop) to the dock. All monitors show clear displays and respond well to mouse movements. Clearly, not everyone is going to spend the $$ for a 45-inch display, but this port would also allow you to connect a total of 4 monitors so you can get a LOT of real estate with smaller, less expensive monitors. (Some very good 27” monitors can be obtained for around $100 each.) I have used both DisplayPort and HDMI ports for both monitors with no issues.Everything worked well for my MacBook Pro M3 Max. As the information that comes with the dock indicates, I had to first install the DisplayLink Manager (to get the DisplayLink Driver). That was a trivial piece of software to download and install. Once I did that, monitors connected with a DisplayPort cable. With that the same display connectivity I described for the surface laptop worked just fine. The Ultragear 45 is in my home office, but I am now planning to obtain several inexpensive smaller monitors for my work and lab offices using this dock. One small detail affecting Macs is that you can only get 3 external monitors to work while you can get 4 with an appropriate Windows machine. A HUGE potential problem with the Mac is that, if you are using DisplayPort, you cannot view a streaming service like Netflix or Max. That is only for DisplayPort, no problem viewing those services over HDMI.I have also connected multiple USB devices (CD/DVD drive, external hard drives, USB drives) and they all worked well whether connected to the USB-A or USB-C port. It read SD cards well, something of importance to me since that is how my medical CPAP device stores data. Honestly, I didn’t exhaustively test all the ports, but they all worked well out of the box. I am not a huge fan of benchmarking, but I used USBDeview on the Windows Laptop and BlackMagic Disk Speed test on the Mac to show if the dock negatively affects USB transfer speeds. I didn’t pay attention to specific numbers but the numbers I got when I connected the drives to the dock and directly to the laptops were the same. I am also not a gamer so I can’t comment on how games work with these docks, but I can say that various science graphics programs included simulations and animations work quite well.Normally, I wouldn’t be looking for this much connectivity, but the prospect of getting a lot of monitor real estate using inexpensive monitors and this dock was too good to pass up. Also, the ability to have multiple hard drives for data backup is a plus. To be honest, I didn’t do a lot of comparison shopping because I have found TobenOne to make excellent products, but I would say this is a good deal for the capability. So, overall, I like this dock and will be recommending it to my colleagues if they need this much monitor connectivity.

Stop searching, this is the docking station you're looking for
I needed to replace my 5yr old docking station due to failing ports. The docking station that I previously purchased 5yrs ago was $160 and in looking at the most recent reviews of it and others around that same price range, there were so many negative reviews and comments that made me wanting to stay away from purchasing it a 2nd time. I stumbled on the TobenONE and even though the price was a little higher, overall the reviews were very favorable so I decided to give it a shot.Already having a docking station previously, setting this up this docking station was a breeze including a quick install of the display link adapter software.Details:Computer: HP SpectreX360 13” - Windows 11Using: 2 HDMI displays (1920x1080), RJ45 LAN, 3.5mm speaker jack, 4 USB ports.Pros:My previous docking station would only function properly if I plugged it into my laptop ‘Hot’ (docking station needed to be powered on) and I could only remove it from my laptop ‘Cold” (docking station needed to be powered down before unplugging the USB-C). While the power button on the TobenONE is a nice touch and works great, the best part now is that I can plug & unplug my laptop from the docking station without regard to its powered on status.Support:When you purchase a product you hope you never need to contact support but I did on the same day that I received the docking station. I was concerned that my laptop was not charging from the docking station as it was ‘stuck’ at 93% and the light on the side of my laptop was white (not charging) vs. orange (charging).I sent support an email on this without any additional troubleshooting on my end, to my surprise they came back ready to help me troubleshoot in less than a day with some ideas and a request for more information to help them troubleshoot this issue further. Before emailing them back, I decided to test a couple different variables on my end. In summary, my laptop was "stuck" at 93% battery and not charging with the TobenONE docking station BUT then I also discovered that my OEM power supply wasn't charging it either. I unplugged everything from the laptop, restarted and allowed the battery to drain down to 50%. I then tried the OEM power supply again (which DID work to charge it) AND I then tried the TobenONE docking station to charge it and that worked as well charging the battery all the way up to 100%!! While this charging error was on my end all the time, I was able to see how responsive TobenONE’s support team was to try and remedy my problem. Thank you TobenONE!!Con’s:This review wouldn’t be complete without at least one Con, I wish there were more USB-A plugs on the back of the unit (there’s only 1). It would be nice if all the plugs I’m using (including the 3.5mm speaker jack) were coming out the back of the unit vs. having to bring the plugs wrap around to the front, it would’ve been the cherry on top and made the unit look much cleaner on my desktop. With all this being said, function to me is number 1, if a product doesn’t work perfect 100% of the time it doesn’t matter how pretty it looks, this docking station fits this statement, works perfectly for me and as a bonus I know the customer support is there if I need it. 100% recommend.

Love it great buy
I’ve been using the TobenONE DisplayLink Docking Station for a few weeks now with my MacBook Pro (M1 Pro), and it’s been a game-changer for my workspace. Setup was straightforward thanks to the included 120W power adapter and clear instructions. The triple 4K display support works flawlessly—I have two 4K monitors and one 2K monitor connected via the HDMI and DisplayPort outputs, and everything runs smoothly without lag or resolution issues. What really stands out is the DisplayLink technology, which allows full triple-monitor support on MacBooks (something most docks struggle with). I can extend my desktop across all three monitors, which is a massive productivity boost for video editing, coding, and general multitasking. The variety of ports is generous:• 3x HDMI and 3x DisplayPort give lots of display flexibility• 2x USB-C and 4x USB 3.2 ensure high-speed peripheral connections• SD/TF card slots are perfect for photographers like me• 120W power adapter keeps everything charged, including my laptop, without the need for a second chargerBuild quality is excellent, with a sleek aluminum finish that matches my MacBook well. No overheating, no random disconnects—just reliable performance every day.Highly recommend this dock for professionals or anyone looking to expand their setup with multiple monitors, especially Mac users who often get shortchanged with native display support.
