Great DAC. Sounds really clear. Burr Brown > akm or ess
The digital input favors spdif/coaxial over toslink/optical. so power cycle the dac to switch to toslink if you use the coax and want to use optical after. Make sure you update the bluetooth and dac firmware. Upgraded from a modi 2 uber with an akm 4396 to this. ifi uses a burr brown dsd 1793 chip that sounds warmer than akm, ess or cirrus logic chips. The sound is very clear. At 32bit 384khz pcm, it sounds like you are in the studio with the artist. Redbook cds sound good as does bluetooth aac. The connection is instant when you toggle bluetooth. I havent tried dsd dxd or mqa files. Very neutral and clear dac. Build quality is very good. Unit feels solid and looks gorgeous. Internally it uses top quality components like panasonic oscon and elna caps, goldplated connectors and a low jitter gmt clock. Also has kemet ceramic and tdk cog caps. There is an xmos 16 core chip for mqa, if you like tidal. Overall a solid dac that I enjoy. Includes great cables, that are a bit short but work perfect with my setup. I am using this with a thinkpad, and sony dvd player as a cd transport. I use the rca outs to a emotiva a100 and elac b6.2s and a debut 10in sub. Using hifiman he4xx from drop for headphones. Expensive dac for me at $350, but overall I am pleased with the purchase. Next step up would be a chord mojo at twice the price, so I am happy with my low budget 2.1 setup.

Great sounding DAC for the money
I am using the iFi DAC mainly for music but also for television. I am NOT using the headphone outputs so I cannot comment on that. I also upgraded the power supply and using a home made music streamer with Volumio. Excellent sound quality with my Acoustic Energy loudspeakers and Schiit audio components, easily 5 stars!

Worthless "Customer Service" From IFi- Buy Another Brand DAC
Ifi has the WORST "customer service" ever. If there is an issue with your DAC they will string you along with questions that have nothing to do to with the DACs failure to function properly. The DAC I purchased will not pass a signal from all the inputs on the unit. Ifi refuses to help me with the issue. SEVERAL emails later, with no "helpful" responses in any of them, I will chalk this up as a LOSS and buy a competent DAC from another manufacturer.

Quality products.
I now own four ifi products. They’re all terrific and well-made. If another need arises, they will be the first company I look at to see what they offer.

Basically A Perfect DAC Unit
So long story short I had a 1500 dollar DAC break on me and I needed to replace it. I experimented with some of the other brands available on Amazon like Topping and SMSL and decided to keep this iFi Zen One Signature as my choice for my loudspeaker system. Overall this DAC is extremely neutral and clean. It has no coloration I would say. The break in time was about one and a half weeks to get it to disappear into my system. I had to add EQ in Roon to get this thing sounding like I wanted to for a slight 2.5 decibel peak in the lower mid-range around 500 Hertz. After EQ it sounds better than my old DAC which is saying a lot because my old unit was three times the price, but had a older design. There are not many entry level DAC units on the market except a few on Amazon and then the Schiit units. I decided to keep the iFi in my system after some testing of other companies units like the ESS-based units which I found had a hollow or thin mid-range -- and for me that was a deal breaker because I like a warm mid-range and couldn't find a ESS unit that suited my tastes and I even tried them with EQ and couldn't get them to work for my sonic preferences. The nice thing about the Zen One Signature is that it has a upgrade path you can get the iPower Elite if you want that or the iPowerX for less money to upgrade the power supply. Overall I really like this DAC and will keep it in my living room system until iFi releases something better around the same price point. Good job iFi on creating a nice, clean DAC system that's affordable.

Great sound wonky connectivity and buttons
Love the Burr Brown DAC sound out of this. I have to turn the unit off and back on the get the unit to recognize the input. Even when I cycled through the inputs it wouldn't recognize the source. That was a pain. The buttons seem cheap and having to keep using them to power down has my worried as another reviewer mentioned one of his buttons died. Too bad because it seems to have some high quality innards.
