Q: How about you describe the color? I'm looking for bright orange to match other items in my office.

Its vert bright orange if thats what you need.

Q: What size post a note would I need for this?

I use the standard post-it notes on top and mini post-it's in one of the front compartments. Hope this helps! :)

The back slot will hold 8x11 paper and legal notepads. I currently have a stack of paperwork and a legal pad in there without any issues--therefore I am assuming a 8x11 notebook should fit.
