what does double curve mean?

It means they are bent in two locations. One at the handle, the shaft is bent downward just past the finger grips to allow your fingers to be above the hoop when cutting. The other at the tip, which curves slightly upward allowing you to get into difficult spaces to trim.

Are the scissors comfortable for people with large fingers?

The Kai 5130DC has a large thumb and finger hole which is comfortable. I posted the picture with measurements in my review.

About how long would you estimate they stay sharp ?cutting a variety of materials - embroidery leather, glitter sheets, vinyl, fabric.

Cutting items with glitter will dull them faster than anything else. I mostly use mine for fabric. Really depends on amount of use. I would suggest a separate pair just for thicker stuff.
